Make the first step small enough to do
Getting active does not have to start with a race, gym membership or a dramatic training plan. It can begin with a walk after lunch, standing up more often, or a short activity you enjoy.
Choose a realistic time and place. If you feel well, build gradually. If you have a new diagnosis, recent procedure or exercise symptoms, ask your care team for a plan before increasing activity.
Measure progress in everyday life
Notice whether usual activities feel easier, whether you are becoming more consistent, and whether you enjoy the routine. Those changes matter alongside minutes, pace and watch data.
Use the starting exercise guide for practical steps, or the return-to-exercise guide if you are recovering. Cardiac rehabilitation can provide structure and confidence when you qualify.
Questions for your next visit
- What activity feels achievable this week?
- Do I need a tailored plan before progressing?
